Determination of semi-volatile organic compounds in ambient air particulate matter by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry after ultrasonic extraction

Abstract：The semi-volatilization organic compounds(SVOCs) in ambient air particles was detected by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS) after ultrasonic extraction. The sample was extracted through ultrasonic extraction with acetone and hexane, the extract was dried by anhydrous sodium sulfate and concentrated by nitrogen blowing, and was analyzed by GC-MS. The linear relationship between the mass concentration of 29 SVOCs and the peak area was good, the correlation coefficients were all more than 0.992, and the detection limits were 0.03-0.15 ng/m3. Except naphthalene, the recovery of SVOCs ranged from 74.8% to 142%, the relative standard deviation of 6 determination results was less than 10%. This method has high sensitivity and can be used for the determination of semi-volatile organic compounds in ambient air particles.
