Simultaneous determination of ammonia nitrogen and total phosphorus in sewage by continuous flow method

Abstract：The content of ammonia nitrogen and total phosphorus in the sewage were determined by continuous
flow analysis. The effects of different dilution factors of the sewage samples on the determination results were compared.
The experimental results showed that the standard curves of ammonia nitrogen and total phosphorus were good, the linear
correlation coefficients were all 0.999 97; the relative standard deviation of the detection results was 2.01% and 0.84%(n=7),
respectively; the detection limits of the method were 0.012 and 0.009 mg/L, respectively; the detection data of quality
control samples covered the range of the indication value; the spiked recovery was 93.4%-101.1%. The cleanliness of
the sewage directly affects the measurement results. For the relatively clean samples, the measurement results were not
significantly different. For the dirty sewage, the detection results by direct measurement were quite different from that
by dilution. The method adopts full-spectrum direct reading CCD detection method with high sensitivity, good stability,
no spectral interference, and supports simultaneous determination of ammonia nitrogen and total phosphorus, which is
convenient and quick, and it is suitable for determination of ammonia nitrogen and total phosphorus in sewage.
